AWA (American Women’s Association) is a sisterhood of women from around the world, who come together to enhance their Singapore experience through fun and fulfilling volunteer-run activities.

If you are looking for new friendships, fun activities or meaningful ways to contribute while you are in Singapore, we are here to help. AWA oversees more than 30 unique and engaging activities and special events which happen during the day, in the evening, throughout the week and on weekends. These social, informational and community service groups are organized on a regular basis and include:

• Cultural & Educational Talks
• Sports like Tennis & Golf
• Games like Bridge & Mahjong
• Children’s activities & Mom’s Nights Out
• Dining & Cocktail events at local restaurants/bars
• Volunteering with children, seniors & families in need
• A dedicated Newcomers Network for helping new arrivals adjust to living in Singapore
• A Facebook members only community to ask questions and exchange information

~ 1917 American Association of Malaya founded
~ 1935 Women’s Auxiliary of the American Association of Malaya founded
~ 1947 Women’s Auxiliary Library opens
~ 1949 First Annual Spring Fashion Show
~ 1954 First Annual Christmas Bazaar
~ 1955 Women’s Auxiliary milestone – funding over 30 charities annually
~ 1965 Singapore Independence
~ 1981 Name changed to American Women’s Association of Singapore
~ 1985 First Bamboo Telegraph produced
~ 1990 First Annual AWA & Eastern Carpets Auction
~ 2006 First International Woman of the Year Award
~ 2006 First Felicia Burch Tennis Tournament
~ 2008 First Thanksgiving Picnic & Holiday Lights Bus Tour
~ 2015 50th anniversary of Singapore’s Independence
~ 2015 80th anniversary of AWA
~ 2020 85th anniversary of AWA
