NTUC Health Nursing Home (Geylang East)

NTUC Health’s Nursing Homes are residential spaces that incorporate a pleasant and conducive environment for healing, and that provides professional, person-centred and holistic care. NTUC Health aims to enable residents to feel empowered, independent, safe and comfortable, while focusing on rehabilitating them back to the comfort and familiarity of their own home/community.

At NTUC Health’s Nursing Homes, care staff treat and care for each resident as if they are loved ones; and constantly strive to maintain high standards of care.

NTUC Health was awarded accreditations by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) as a Certified On-The-Job Training Centre (COJTC) in July 2015, and an Approved Training Centre (ATC) in October 2015 to conduct the ITE Skills Certificate in Health Care. The accreditations allow NTUC Health’s Nursing Homes to provide valid and structured training and assessment programmes in-house for nursing (care staff) that meet national skills certification standards.

OUR ACTIVITIES

  • INTERACTIVE DAY SPACES

A series of different themed day spaces around the home, also known as reminiscence corners, provide sensory stimulation for residents. These reminiscence corners simulate familiar environments such as a HDB living room, a HDB void deck, a classroom, a street hawker, and many more; creating environments that residents can relate to.

At these day spaces, residents can engage in reminiscence therapy and do various activities like play chess, read, do art and craft, play board games, and many others, to help them improve their cognitive functions and social skills. Residents, volunteers, families and staff can also bond through interactions within these comfortable and lively spaces.

  • COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, ENTERTAINMENT AND ENRICHMENT

NTUC Health’s Nursing Homes works with external organisations, interest groups, volunteers and the neighbourhood community to conduct various activities for its residents regularly. Frequent social interaction with people provides residents with a continued sense of belonging to the community.

Through a variety of entertainment and activities, such as singing, dancing, performance, games, art and craft, etc, residents experience sensorial richness. Outings are also conducted to provide opportunities to re-connect with the general public and experience changes in the community and environment.
